INGREDIENTS
1 large loaf of day old bread cut or torn into 2 inch pieces 6 Eggs 2 cups of half and half or milk ½ cup raisins 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon allspice ¼ teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg ½ cup of brown sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Put raisin in a bowl with ½ cup of warm water to plump for about 30 minutes. Place bread pieces in a 9x13 casserole pan and set aside. In a large bowl beat together eggs and sugar until smooth. Then add the ½ & ½ and the rest of the spices to the egg mixture and beat with a whisk until completely combined. Remove the raisins from the water and put them over the top of the bread in the pan evenly. Now pour the mixture over the bread and raisins in the pan. Using clean hands press the bread down into the liquid making sure it all gets absorbed into the bread. Place in a preheated 350F oven for about 1 hour. Serve topped with butter and syrup or fruit spread and whipped cream.
